‘Do you copy major V’ger? Please confirm the correct state of the propulsion and DPS systems.’
‘II can hear you loud and clear. Systems up and running. Argos III is ready for take-off.’
While V’ger heard a soft voice counting from ten to zero, ground control replied, ‘Engines on’.
“3”. ‘Initiate’. “1”. ‘Lift-off’.
V’ger was pressed against to his seat, feeling the aerodynamic pressure the craft was suffering. When the piercing sound of the hydrogen violently reacting with the oxygen in the galactic engines completely stopt, V’ger now felt he truly was in space. He had a strange sensation in his stomach , which meant he was floating, and now he could solely distinguish the white sound coming from the radio, linking him with planet Earth. He took off his helmet, and felt he was under a calm sea, in a warm environment and when he looked out of the ten centimeter thick window his eyes were submerged in deep bright blue while contemplating the edge of his home planet. He then arrived to the deep space module and pushed a button that read “detach ascend module”. A few minutes later V’ger was sitting in a more spacious compartiment, once more with his helmet on. ‘Send the jovians my regards when you fly by Europa’ spoke someone from the radio transmitter. ‘Wish me luck’ replied V’ger ‘Initiating warp generator’. For a moment, he was pulled from his seat, but immediately pushed back to it. And then whiteness. It wasn’t bright, just white. He tried to look around, but there was no color, no sound. He couldn’t even hear his own breathe.
