I can’t believe it. How can he possibly be here right now? It’s not possible, not after what happened yesterday. He’s here and he doesn’t even have bruises or scratches… if Wes is here, we made a huge mistake.
My best friend, Kathy, had been dating Wes for almost a year. They were happy together, or at least they seemed so, until Kathy told me that she wanted to break up with him because she had found out that he was hiding a secret. For weeks I’d been asking Kathy why so suddenly she believed that Wes wasn’t ho he said he was but she always answered that she wasn’t sure. Finally, yesterday she told me she had discovered his secret by checking his mobile phone. She had found a hidden folder in Wes’s cellphone’s gallery where she saw what she had been looking for: there were photos of the people who had been disappearing in our town. Wes wasn’t only a kidnapper but also a murderer. As soon as Kathy had told me this, we heard a noise coming from the door. We saw Wes standing there; he had heard our whole conversation. We got scared so we pushed him and ran downstairs to get to the car before he had a chance to harm us. We started the car and out of nowhere, Wes appeared in front of it. Kathy, who was driving, couldn’t stop; she ran him over. We didn’t get out of the car, Kathy drove until we arrived at my place where we slept as if nothing had happened.
But now, Wes was standing right in front of me and he didn’t seem hurt at all. I am overcome by fear; if Wes wasn’t dead or even injured, who we did run over?
